Preston Park!

Wow, what a fantastic day we have had at Preston Park! We visited butterfly world and saw butterflies, meerkats, lizards and fish. We explored a Victorian street and all it’s shops, including a sweet shop where we watched the ladies weighing jelly babies using an old fashioned set of scales. We searched for mini-beasts in the gardens and found all sorts of exciting creepy crawlies. To top off an amazing day the sun was shining so we had our packed lunches outside in the shade of the trees. We have learnt so much and really enjoyed ourselves and Miss Irvine is so proud of us for being so sensible, polite and enthusiastic. To summarise, this is what one little girl said on the bus ride home. – ‘This has been the best day ever!!’

Rice race.

This week in maths we have been exploring capacity. We had 3 different sized containers and we predicted which container would fill up the quickest and why. We then went outside and in 3 groups raced with our spoons carrying rice across the playground to fill up the containers. We really enjoyed this maths lesson and being so practical with our learning has helped us with our understanding.
